History Society events
This is the page that will keep you all up-to-date with all the events this years society has planned for you.
We will be holding our AGM at 6pm on Tuesday 6th March, in Attenborough Basement Lecture Theatre 1.
At this meeting we will be discussing the election process for the 2012/2013 committee. If you wish to run for a position then we highly recommend that you attend this meeting (though exceptions to this rule may be considered in certain circumstances).
The roles will be as follows;
President
Vice President
Secretary
Academic Secretary
Sports Secretary
Treasurer
Two Social Secretaries
Web Master and
Publicity Officer
At the meeting we will tell you the rules regarding campaigning, the benefits of having a committee position and explain when your roles will begin.
Also at this meeting you will be given the opportunity to raise any issues that you have had over the last academic year and provide feedback for this year's society committee! These meetings are crucial to ensure that your society represents you in the best possible light and that you are getting what you want from it.
As ever, if you have any questions at all, please email [email protected] and a member of the committee will endeavour to answer you as quickly as possible!
This event is also the perfect way to let people know if you are thinking about running for a position!
Ghost Walk:
We are offering the opportunity to join a ‘Haunted Leicester’ guided walk on 7th March 2012, starting at 7pm.
A place on 'Haunted Leicester' costs £4.00 per person, or £3.00 if paying in advance. The guided walk begins at Leicester’s Town Hall, in Town Hall Square.
These strolls are an enjoyable way to soak up some Local History. The walk starts outside Leicester's Town Hall, in Town Hall Square. The route goes through the lonely and eerie streets of Leicester's half-forgotten Old Town, where many ghosts are said to lurk.
All towns have their phantoms, but Leicester seems to have more than its share. This is probably because Leicester is one of England's oldest towns, and the ghostly population has had two thousand years to get itself established.
If you would like to pay in advance we will be in the Scholar on Monday 27th February, 1-3pm Friday 2nd March, 3-4pm. If you cannot make these times, either pay on the day or email [email protected] to make alternative arrangements.
There will be a VERY LIMITED number of places, so it is important to sign up as soon as you can to make sure guarantee your place.
